Description

This excerpt from the book The Origins and Early History of Providence College Through 1947 describes the sinking of the ship Acona, which was torpedoed by an Austrian submarine on November 8, 1915. This ship contained the Acts of the Intermediate Chapter of the Dominican Province of St. Joseph, which, in its contents, was the permission to erect a college in Providence, Rhode Island.
