Convocation, from the Latin, convocare, meaning "to come together", marks the official opening of Providence College's Centennial year celebration. The event will welcome new members of the community - students in the Class of 2020, transfer students, and new faculty. It is open to the entire community. All classes have been cancelled for the day to allow for full participation.
The annual Convocation ceremony is a traditional gathering of learners that celebrates and marks a student's entry into the academic community. Full of tradition, the ceremony provides a formal welcoming to the College just as the Commencement ceremony provides closing.
Join with the College, August 31, 2016, at 3 p.m., in the Peterson Recreation Center for this special occasion celebrating the opening of the new school year and the 100th Centennial Anniversary of Providence College.
