"Bill" McCue helped to write new chapters in Providence College basketball history as a member of the famous Friar team that became known as the "Fabulous Five." In his senior year, he served as co-captain of that quintet which included his inseparable friend, the late John Krieger, O.F.M., Ed Wineapple, Larry Wheeler, and Stan Sydla; and they captured the New England and Eastern Collegiate Basketball Championships. In recognition of his great play, Bill was named to the All New England Team in his junior and senior year.
Since graduation, he has led a distinguished career as an official of the New Jersey Employment Service, and has sent two sons to Providence College. In 1967 Bill was enshrined in the Paterson Athletic Association Hall of Fame. He now becomes the third member of the "Fabulous Five" to be inducted into the Providence College Athletic Hall of Fame.
We delight in honoring William T. McCue for his great contribution to Friar basketball.
