Phillips Memorial Library, Special and Archival Collections, are pleased to present an exhibit in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Vatican II Document Nostra Aetate and of this year’s Jewish - Catholic Dialogue Conference held at Providence College.
The exhibit features memorabilia from Jewish – Catholic Dialogue Conferences held at Providence College in the past. Items include flyers, press releases, news clippings, programs, and correspondence from the 1963, 1965, 1978, 1991, and 2010 Jewish – Catholic Dialogue Conferences. A copy of the Nostra Aetate, as well as, biographical information on this year’s speaker, New York Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan, is presented.
The conference this year is the third of a three-year series commemorating Nostra Aetate. The lecture and colloquium series Theological Exchange Between Catholics and Jews brings local and nationally-recognized experts to Providence College for two major events each academic year: a lecture in the Fall semester featuring a speaker (Timothy Cardinal Dolan) on a theme relevant to Jewish-Christian relations; and a "public dialogue" in the Spring semester between two nationally-recognized experts – one Jewish and one Catholic – who discuss together a specific issue in Jewish-Christian relations.
To learn more about the Jewish – Catholic Dialogue Conference and the Nostra Aetate visit the exhibit on the main level of the Library or the Jewish-Catholic Theological Exchange at Providence College website.
