Phillips Memorial Library, in Celebration of 100 years of Providence College, presented original photographs of the College’s opening day ceremonies, September 18, 1919. The exhibit included original photographs of the May 25, 1919 dedication of Harkins Hall, which was named after Bishop Matthew Harkins, one of the original founders of Providence College, the September 20, 1919 visit of Désiré-Joseph Cardinal Mercier, who was noted for his stand against the Germans during World War I, as well as the original photographs of the opening day ceremonies.
