Major: Environmental Biology
Faculty Mentor: Dr. Rachael Bonoan, Biology

Insects provide valuable ecosystem services, including pollinating the crops we eat. The Bonoan Lab is interested in studying what bees—some of the most important insect pollinators—eat and how they cope with variation in food sources (i.e., New England seasons). Before studying bees, we must first learn which species are common and how to identify them in the field. This digital and physical reference collection will allow the Bonoan Lab to study pollinators in the field, without lethal sampling.
