Preface/Prefacio Este Volumen II de Nuestra herencia: Memorias de la juventud bilingüe en el noreste de los Estados Unidos representa la continuación de un proyecto multigeneracional. En estas páginas se recogen las historias de un segundo grupo de estudiantes bilingües que, con sus palabras y experiencias, siguen construyendo un puente entre generaciones, culturas y lenguas. Al igual que en el primer volumen, estos relatos muestran cómo los estudiantes viven y se expresan en el contacto constante entre el inglés y el español. Además, este volumen incluye un logro importante: todas las historias han sido grabadas por estudiantes. Gracias a esto, ahora forman parte de un audiolibro disponible para todos. Las voces que dan vida a las historias muestran la riqueza y la diversidad del español que se habla en los Estados Unidos. Deseamos que este libro y su versión en audio generen conversaciones que nos ayuden a comprender mejor nuestra propia cultura y la de aquellos con quienes convivimos y así promover un mundo con más empatía y tolerancia. This Volume II of Our Heritage: Short Stories of Bilingual Youth in the Northeastern United States represents the continuation of a multigenerational project. In these pages, we share the stories of a second group of bilingual students who, through their words and experiences, continue building a bridge across generations, cultures, and languages. As in the first volume, these stories show how students live and express themselves in the constant contact between English and Spanish. This volume also includes an important achievement: all the stories were recorded by students. Thanks to this, they are now part of an audiobook available to everyone. The voices that bring these stories to life show the richness and diversity of the Spanish spoken in the United States. We hope this book and its audio version spark conversations that help us better understand our own culture and that of those with whom we coexist, and that they promote a world with more empathy and tolerance for all.
